- One testicle, often the left, hangs lower.
- The scrotum tightens in cold and hangs looser in warmth.
- Scrotal skin becomes darker, thinner, looser, and more textured during puberty.

Why no home size calculator?
Clinical testicular volume is estimated with an orchidometer or ultrasound. Scrotal size is not testicle size, and home ruler measurements are unreliable and likely to increase anxiety.
Adult research often reports average volume in the mid-teens of milliliters per testis, but methods and populations differ. A clinician evaluates symptoms and change, not just a number.
Sudden severe testicular pain is an emergency.
Testicular torsion can cut off blood supply. Do not wait to see whether it improves.
Arrange medical evaluation
for a new hard lump, persistent swelling, ongoing pain, a rapid change, injury, fever, or a heavy feeling that is new.
